This! Granted, I never actually created pets with the intention of attempting to befriend them, but I made my cybunny an explicit fangirl of somebody’s “siamese” cybunny (she had pretty art AND pet pages, gah) without ever having spoken to the owner. LOL. I was devastated when said user up and quit the site — apparently due to art thieves. I also remember a lot of popular pet pages having notifications saying “NO, my pet will not be your pet’s boyfriend/girlfriend, and we’re not going to kill off his/her partner for you, so stop asking!” It’s definitely funnier in retrospect.
